Hi all,

Belinda Norman and I are beginning work on the Sydney Seeding the Commons project. We’ve been discussing ways to record and analyse the interview data we will collect from researchers during the data interview process.

What we’d like to do is create a data interview tool that will allow us to create RIF-CS records to be recorded and added to RDA. We’d also like to capture this “data interview” data so that we can interrogate to look at trends, attitudes (to an extent) and get a small snapshot of the state of research data management at the University of Sydney.

Does anyone working on the STC projects (or anyone else) have experience in using a database or survey tool to capture and analyse data interviews?
InfoPath looks like an interesting option as it looks like it will allow transformation of form data into various xml formats, which would be a great help further on in the project! Sam, I see from a previous post that you used Microsoft InfoPath to create and test a data entry form. Can you tell me a little more about this? How did you store and/or analyse the data you collected with the InfoPath data entry form? Did you use a database of some sort?

Kate

Not totally on topic here - but I just wanted to mention that there is now a page on the ANDS website about conducting data interviews in general.

If you would like more information added to this page please let me know.
