This is a copy of my original post in the partners section of the website:
As promised here is an outline of many of the things that an institution might wish to consider when drawing up, or updating, their research data management policy.
The drawing up of a research data management policy is one of the deliverables in some of the ANDS Seeding the Commons projects. In light of this, and in response to questions from various institutions, we have put together this basic outline of a Research Data Management Policy that can be adapted for use in Australian Universities or institutions.
Having a research data management policy is a requirement under the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research (The Code) (http://www.nhmrc.gov.au/publications/synopses/r39syn.htm
This outline is NOT intended to be prescriptive. It is intended to be an informative starting point on which to build. But please feel free to take what you wish from it and use it.
I have included below the links to the data management policies of various institutions so that you can look at the varied ways that other institutions are tackling this.
